- Make sure your body is well hydrated

- Start with the face
Massage the bridge of your nose by placing your thumbs on each side at the point where the bridge joins the forehead. Apply pressure by pushing your thumbs on it towards each other. Hold the thumbs there for a few seconds and release repeating for about four times. While your thumbs are still on the bridge, rotate them upwards and massage the area near your forehead.

- Massage your neck
The neck has the role of holding the head. If the muscles are tense there, it may result to headaches due to tension. You should massage your neck by tilting it on each side and allowing it to remain in that position for about 8 seconds. Repeat until you feel that the muscles have relaxed.
To relax the muscles at the back of your neck, drop the chin towards your chest and hold it there for a few seconds. Raise the head and then drop it back and hold it there for a few seconds as well. Repeat the exercise until your neck muscles are relaxed. This acts as one of the cures for a headache.
After you have stretched the muscles of your neck, the next thing is to massage them using your fingertips by an up and down movement. When you are through with the muscles, you should then massage the base of your skull using your fingertips. This is by placing the fingertips on the skull on each side of your neck. You should then make circular motions as you move your fingers towards the ears.
Self-massage can only accomplish so much since the areas that you can massage are the face and the neck. However, stress and muscle tension also affects other parts of the body such as the back and the shoulders. Put your right hand on your left shoulder and squeeze. Use your left hand to support your left elbow so that you can be comfortable. Squeeze the fresh while keeping your wrist loose. Repeat the same with your right shoulder until your shoulder feel relaxed.
Massaging the chest
Since it is difficult to reach your back, you can massage your chest using your fingers. This is by applying firm strokes from the centre of your chest as you move outwards towards the ribs. When you get to the ribs, apply more pressure between the ribs up to the outer side of the ribcage. Still applying pressure return your fingers to the centre, and repeat the process. While at it, look for areas on your chest that feel tense and work on them.
